Need Crates Fast? Same-Week & Same-Day Delivery in Kansas City

Last-minute moves happen. Here's our same-day, next-day, and same-week availability across the KC metro — and how to lock in a delivery window when your timeline shifts.

Most moves get planned weeks in advance.

Some don’t. If your closing date moved up, your move-out got accelerated, or you just realized you need crates by this weekend, here’s exactly how fast we can get them to you in the Kansas City metro.

Standard delivery windows

Across the Kansas City metro (KCMO + KCK urban core):

  • Same-day delivery: Available for orders placed before 11 AM. $35 same-day fee added.
  • Next-day delivery: Standard for orders placed after 11 AM or same-day if our schedule is full.

Outer suburbs (Overland Park, Olathe, Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Independence, Shawnee, Lenexa, Blue Springs):

  • Next-day delivery: Standard for orders placed by 5 PM.
  • Same-day delivery: Available with morning booking and depending on route capacity.

Call to confirm.

Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor:

  • Same-day delivery: Standard.

This is our home base — orders placed by noon typically get delivered the same afternoon.

When same-day is fastest

Realistically, same-day means within 4–6 hours of confirmation.

If you call at 9 AM and your address is across the Kansas City metro, we can usually have crates at your door by mid-afternoon.

If you call at 11:30 AM, we can usually deliver by end of day. Call later than 1 PM and same-day becomes uncertain — next-day is more reliable.

How to lock in fast delivery

To minimize back-and-forth and get crates to you fastest:

  1. Email us at jeff@kcmovingcrates.com — phone is faster than email or web form for urgent orders
  2. Have your address ready — so we can confirm service area immediately
  3. Know your home size — for package recommendation in the call
  4. Have a delivery window — when you’ll be home or when someone can receive the delivery
  5. Confirm payment — we’ll take card over the phone for urgent orders

Booking a same-day order over the phone typically takes 5–7 minutes.

What “same-day” actually means logistically

Behind the scenes, here’s what happens when you order same-day:

  • We confirm the order and your address
  • We check inventory at the warehouse (which is normally well-stocked)
  • We add your address to the day’s delivery route
  • A driver leaves the warehouse with your crates and the rest of the day’s deliveries
  • We give you a 2-hour arrival window (and can narrow to a 30-minute heads-up call)
  • Crates and dollies arrive at your door

The whole sequence from order to delivery is usually 3–5 hours inside the metro.

When same-day isn’t available

A few situations where we can’t promise same-day even with morning booking:

  • **High-volume

Saturdays in May–July** — peak moving season can fill all routes by 10 AM

  • First weekend of any month — apartment turnover spikes drain inventory quickly
  • Severe weather days — ice, snow, or major storms can shut down delivery routes
  • Holiday weekends — Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
  • Your address is out of normal route range — far edges of the service area sometimes need next-day

In these cases, we’ll tell you immediately so you can plan around it.

What about extending a current rental?

If you already have crates from us and need more time or more crates:

  • Extension week: Call or email anytime before your scheduled pickup.

No re-delivery fee, weekly extension rate is discounted.

  • Additional crates: We can usually deliver 5–20 additional crates within 24 hours. $4 per extra crate.
  • Postpone pickup: Just call.

We’ll move pickup to whatever new date works.

After-hours and weekend delivery

For genuinely urgent situations outside normal hours (Mon–Fri 8 AM–6 PM, Sat 9 AM–5 PM, Sun 10 AM–4 PM):

  • Sunday morning: Same-day delivery is possible across the Kansas City metro for orders placed

Saturday evening

  • After 6 PM weekday: Generally not feasible same-day; we can deliver first thing the next morning
  • Holiday Mondays: Tuesday morning typically

For overnight or commercial off-hours delivery (often relevant for retail/restaurant moves), there’s a $50 off-hours surcharge but we can usually accommodate.

Frequently asked urgent-move questions

**My closing got moved up.

Can you deliver tomorrow?** Yes, almost certainly.

Tomorrow’s delivery slots are typically open if you call today. I’m moving this weekend and just realized I need crates. Will I get them? Probably.

Across the Kansas City metro, even Friday-afternoon-for-Saturday is usually feasible. Saturday-of-the-move-itself is harder — call by Friday noon. I need to extend my rental but I’m out of town. What do I do? Call or email.

We can extend over the phone in 2 minutes; no need to be at the address. Can you deliver while I’m at work? Yes, if you have a secure drop spot (garage, covered porch, building lobby with concierge).

Confirm at booking. I’m in a tight elevator window and need crates same-day. Can you make it work? Almost always yes.
